Introducing Qualitative Research Methods: The Essential Elements
Qualitative methods are used to gather and analyze non-numerical data (such as interviews, field notes, or pictures) with the aim of gaining a deeper understanding of the phenomenon of interest. Unlike quantitative methods, qualitative methods are more suitable for understanding how things occur and explaining underlying processes. This workshop will provide an overview of the methods available to the qualitative researcher with an emphasis on ethnographic methods. We will also review an example of an ethnographic study and introduce considerations for designing your own qualitative inquiry. This workshop will be conducted by Lillian Alexander, Graduate specialist for Qualitative Methods, New Brunswick Libraries. Register here for Zoom link.
