Social Justice Degrees & Programs

We offer a range of degree programs across industries and interests to help socially conscious students  attain careers the help change the world.

Change Agents in the Making

As an anchor institution, we play a vital role in our local community and economy. Signature initiatives like the RU-N to The Top financial aid program and the  Honors Living-Learning Community (HLLC), demonstrate our commitment to increasing access to higher education for traditionally disenfranchised communities. By equipping students from marginalized groups  with the knowledge, experiences, and credentials to do social justice work across industries,  we are on a mission to change Newark and the world.

Honors Living-Learning Community

At the HLLC we have a mission to provide continued opportunity and prosperity to all, including those who have been  disenfranchised by systems of inequality. Considering anew the notions of talent and excellence, the HLLC is committed to revolutionizing honors, cultivating talent, and engaging communities. Our vision is to create a more equitable, diverse, and socially focused tomorrow by serving as a model for inclusion in a larger movement across higher education.

Bachelor of Arts, Justice Studies

Graduates of the Bachelors of Arts in Justice Studies will have a deep understanding of how resources are distributed across different social, racial, and economic groups and how inequities in these distributions lead to broad problems of human rights and human dignity. This major will prepare students for citizenship in multicultural and global societies, where justice is a core area of contested thinking. There is a high demand for professionals who can respond effectively to issues of justice and inequity.
