Rutgers Wants to Hear From Faculty and Staff on the Future of Work
The Future of Work (FoW) Task Force, established to reflect on lessons learned from the pandemic and examine how, when, and where Rutgers employees do their jobs, wants to hear from faculty and staff as it moves forward to make its recommendations.
The task force is currently distributing a FoW survey, which will remain open until Nov. 15, 2021. The survey data will be used to assess employee needs as the university moves to develop short- and long-term recommendations to support the evolving needs of the Rutgers community.
The FoW task force, established this summer by President Jonathan Holloway, is charged with developing an inclusive process to help the university community collectively reflect on the last 19 months, and in some cases the remote work experiment, to determine the best path forward. The goal is to improve the student and patient experience, increase innovation, and promote employee well-being while realigning Rutgers’ commitment to its core mission.
“The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted operations around the world, and has served as an accelerant for the greatest workplace transformation of our time. It has forever changed the way in which we view and conduct business,” said Vivian Fernandez, senior vice president of human resources. “As we continue to work as a community to navigate the transformative workplace changes brought about by the pandemic, we have a unique opportunity to leverage lessons learned, reimagine the way in which we work and communicate, and embrace employee well-being as foundational to organizational excellence.”
The results from the task force are expected to shape the future of the university for years to come, which is why the group is urging all employees to participate.
Participation in the FoW survey is completely voluntary and confidential. The results will be reported and used only in the aggregate – individual responses are never reported and results will only be presented in summary form.
In addition to the survey, the task force will invite all faculty and staff to provide feedback and input in many different ways over the course of the next several months. The group will use the new Rutgers Future of Work website to share information, feature key project milestones and communicate ways in which to provide input.
