The Center for PreCollege Programs administers pre-college and career readiness pipeline programs designed to educate, inspire, and prepare students to be future-focused and 21st-century ready. Our commitment is to support students by providing opportunities to achieve and grow effectively.Â

Using a combination of research, partnerships, and resources, the Newark City of Learning Collaborative (NCLC) is working to increase the number of Newark residents — both youth and adults — who go on to earn a college degree or a credential after high school.

The Abbott Leadership Institute has empowered parents, students, educators and community advocates through information about public school reform, and knowledge of effective methods of family engagement in schools. Over the last 16 years, we have educated over 4,500 people through our classes, mostly Newark residents.

In 2016, the university established the Rutgers University–Newark Talent and Opportunity Pathways financial aid program, (RU-N to the TOP), for newly enrolled undergraduate students. The RU-N to the TOP program provides a “last-dollar” financial aid scholarship that covers the cost of in-state tuition and mandatory fees. The scholarship is offered after all federal, state, institutional, internal/external scholarships and grants have been applied. Â

HLLC is a transformational college access program that is broadening pathways to college for promising talent and re-imagining academia. It is focused on identifying the talent within our midst and providing continued opportunity and prosperity for all, including those who have been systematically disenfranchised by systems of inequality.
